Shanghai Pudong, as one of the world's new economic and cultural center, needs a landmark that stands beyond local cultural boundaries, that redefines the city and landscape for the metropolis, and that represents Shanghai’s position as a new pioneer in the world culture. In our opinion, the land has a life of its own. Under the tranquil surface, tremendous energy exists and wishes to be displayed, making this land having the potential of becoming an elegant metropolitan art. We hope to exhibits her vitality through a piece of continuous wave of lands that carpeting the entire cultural park -- a series of continuous, energetic but gentle slops arising and descending from among the flat city infrastructure. Through co-mingle, twist, and recombine, it gradually disappears from the city's horizon. This representation of the boundary blurs the separation between the city and the art park. Local residents and visitors walk into a giant and living city art exhibition without realizing it. The waving city carpet covered by grass and trees also adds a theatrical background to the flexile layout of the architecture in the park. They either float above the carpet, or are embedded in the raised carpet, creating a series of unique exhibitions and activity room environment inside out.
